Fat Tire Cowboys started the way all good stories do—without a plan.

It began in the hangar, in the dust, under a West Texas sky. A few pilots, most of them ranch-raised and agriculture-tough, started filming their flying adventures. Backcountry landings. Campfire stories. Taildraggers on ranch strips to look at cattle and river beds just because they were there. They shared the footage just for fun, not thinking twice. But what happened next caught them off guard.

People started watching. Then following. Then showing up wearing the gear. What was once a group of pilots chasing golden hour in Skywagons became something more—a lifestyle brand built on grit, freedom, and the kind of camaraderie you only find in the sky or around a fire.

Fat Tire Cowboys is an aviation-themed lifestyle brand and online community founded by aviator and artist Bryan Rose, known by the crew as “La Rosa.” What started as a simple YouTube series in 2008 evolved into a movement known today as cowboy luxury—where ranch life meets bush planes, and where every worn bootprint has a story to tell.

Our following spans the globe, with tens of thousands of loyal followers on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Our content ranges from off-grid flying and rural airstrips to hangar laughs, handmade gear drops, and reflections on what it means to live with intent. We’ve been called a lot of things—but “the King Ranch of aviation” is one we wear proudly.
